Vegan Pizza Recipe

This recipe is not healing. I repeat, refined bleached white flour is not healing. It is very inflammatory to the body. However, when you are transitioning into a cleaner living lifestyle (in other words a lifestyle where you are not eating processed foods, and are eating more plant-based, and cleaner) you will have days where it is a MUCH better alternative to cook at home than order from a restaurant franchise chain where they may load the food with tons of chemicals.


Cooking at home is ALWAYS the best option because YOU are in control of the ingredients, how food is prepared, and hygiene. That being said, I want to share with you my favorite vegan recipe for the best vegan pizza ever.


Ingredients:

Vegan Pizza Dough


3 (+ 1 cup for kneading) cups of all purpose flour

2 cups of water

1 packet of Active dry yeast

1/4 cup of grapeseed oil

Salt to taste (~1 tbsp)


Pizza Sauce

1 can of diced tomatoes

1 can of tomato paste

Italian seasoning to taste (~1 tbsp)

Black Pepper to taste (~ 1 tbsp)


Toppings


1 whole white onion chopped

1 box of baby portabella mushrooms sliced

6 mini colored sweet peppers

1/2 can of black olives drained and sliced

1/3 can of green pimento stuffed olives sliced


Directions:


Let's start with the pizza dough.

First, in a large mixing bowl you are going to add the dry ingredients such as the three cups of all-purpose flour, the salt, the active dry yeast and with a fork or a whisk you are going to mix the dry ingredients together thoroughly. After you have mixed the dry ingredients, you will add the wet ingredients which are the grapeseed oil and the two cups of water. With a fork or a dough mixer, mix all of the ingredients together until you have a sticky dough. Now you're ready to knead the dough. On a flat, sturdy, stable surface, sprinkle some flour onto the surface and place your dough. Sprinkle as much flour onto the dough as you need to prevent the dough from sticking to the surface or your utensils. Begin kneading. The purpose of kneading the dough is to activate the gluten that will cause the dough to be very malleable and bind everything together. This process can sometimes take up to 15 minutes. The important thing in this part is to make sure that there are no clumps and the dough consistency is smooth. Once the dough is completely smooth, use a roller to spread out the dough about 1 inch thick in the shape of a pizza. Then set aside and allow the yeast to rise. Ideally it is good to set the dough to rise for 30 minutes up to an hour.


Now we are going to make the pizza sauce! Grab your can of diced tomatoes and tomato paste and mix the ingredients together in a bowl. Then add your seasonings which are the Italian seasoning and the black pepper. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined.


Preheat your oven to 350° f. Once your oven is heated, put your pizza dough in there. Hopefully at this point you have greased your pizza pan and also shaped your dough into that iconic pizza shape and drizzled some oil on it. Cook your dough by itself for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes take out your dough and add your pizza sauce. Then add your toppings and place your pizza back in the oven and allow it to cook for 15 minutes at 350° f.


Then voilá! You have just now created the best vegan pizza ever! Feel free to add your favorite vegan cheese and/or any toppings that you wish. This was just my favorite way of eating vegan pizza.
